Google has a lot on its plate lately -- Android, Google+ and the recently launched Google Play. Even with all of these other projects, the company is still focused on what made it a household name: its search engine.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the company is planning a huge revamp of its search site. The goal of the overhaul is to have Google search reflect the way humans understand the world.

In technical terms, the engine will provide more relevant results through a process called "semantic search." This process will understand the meanings of the words being searched. In conjunction with the site's current keyword-search system, this will provide more precise and applicable results for users.

As WSJ explains it, searching for a place like Lake Tahoe would prompt the engine to find
"attributes" about the place and display information like altitude, location and average temperature.

With the current process, users would be provided links to Wikipedia or maps. There isn't a set date for the features described to roll out, but over the next few months the site will start displaying more facts and direct answers to searches.
