Penang, Malaysia —
The Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) 2025 marked more than just another iconic race across one of Asia’s longest bridges. It became a powerful reminder of what is possible when community, inclusivity, and determination come together.

This year, 16 visually-impaired runners from St. Nicholas’ Home successfully crossed the PBIM finish line, supported hand-in-hand by dedicated guide runners from Ramakrishna Ashrama, Howei Events, and compassionate volunteers from the public. Every single participant completed the race, a remarkable achievement that reflected not only physical endurance, but deep trust, teamwork, and human connection.
Running as One Community
From the early morning darkness to the final steps toward the finish line, the race unfolded as a shared journey. Each visually-impaired runner was paired with guide runners who acted as their eyes, navigators, and motivators throughout the course. The bridge, often seen as a symbol of connection between island and mainland, became a living metaphor for unity and inclusion.
The cheers along the route, the steady rhythm of footsteps, and the silent understanding between runners and guides all spoke to a powerful truth: running is not about sight. It is about heart, courage, and perseverance.
Gratitude to Our Partners and Supporters

This meaningful participation was made possible through the generous support of Aspen, whose sponsorship under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative enabled the team to take part in PBIM 2025. Their commitment to inclusive community engagement turned intention into impact.
A special appreciation goes to Joan from Aspen, whose behind-the-scenes coordination ensured everything ran smoothly, from logistics to runner welfare. Her dedication and attention to detail allowed the team to focus on what mattered most: the experience itself.
We also extend heartfelt thanks to SPIN Malaysia (@spinmy), our official merchandise partner. By equipping the runners and guides with quality running shoes and apparel, SPIN helped the team feel confident, comfortable, and united. Truly looking and feeling like champions on race day.
Every Runner Matters
While the day was filled with celebration, it was also marked by moments of reflection. A few runners were unable to participate due to illness. Though absent from the course, they remained very much part of the team’s spirit and success. We wish them a speedy recovery and look forward to running together again.
Redefining Ability
PBIM 2025 delivered a clear and resounding message:
Blindness is not a disability. It is simply a different way of seeing the world and conquering it.
The success of this initiative stands as proof that with the right support, empathy, and collaboration, barriers can be transformed into bridges.
As the sun rose over Penang and medals were placed around proud necks, one thing was certain, this was more than a marathon. It was a celebration of humanity at its best.
Mission accomplished. Round two complete. And the journey continues. ??♂️
